Oral Anabolic Steroids - Should You Use Oral or Injectable Steroids?

Oral anabolic steroids are steroid drugs taken by mouth. Many (if not most) effective anabolic steroids are injected into the body. However many people do not feel comfortable with needles. They might opt instead to use only oral anabolic steroids. Many new bodybuilders and other athletes take oral rather then injectables.

Unfortunately these oral anabolic steroids have been found to be quite hard on the liver. This is due to the fact that they have shorter half-lives than drugs which are injected. What is meant by the term "half-life"? The half-life of a drug is how long it will remain active in the body after it is taken. Since the half-life of oral drugs is shorter than those that are injected they need to be taken more frequently.

The half-life of oral anabolic steroids varies depending on its quality, its potency and the body of the person taking it. However a drug will usually have a half-life of about 3-5 hours. This means you will need to take it several times a day. This does place strain on the liver. In addition, drugs that are 17-alpha alkylated are even more toxic to the liver.

What about injectables vs. oral anabolic steroids? Injectable drugs are viewed as safer than oral drugs. This is because they do not have to be digested. These drugs have a longer half-life and so do not need to be taken as frequently as oral drugs. This makes them easier and safer to use. Injectable steroids are usually used by more experienced steroid users.

Both oral anabolic steroids and injectables have their positives and negatives. Very often bodybuilders will use a combination of both options at different times for different effects. Steroids can be detected in the body for weeks to a year after use no matter which type you use. Nandrolone (deca, testosterona) can be detected up to one year later and injectable testosterone, between 3-6 months.

If you are considering using anabolic steroids for long periods you might want to opt for injectables over oral anabolic steroids to help protect your liver and digestive system in general.
